From August 2020, the school wishes to appoint an outstanding teacher of Economics and Business to join our forward-looking Secondary School.
A specialist Economics Teacher, able to teach Economics IGCSE and A-Level and some Business Studies to IGCSE. You will challenge your students to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and implement innovative teaching practices to enhance the student experience and outcomes.
This is a highly valued department with a large number of students taking Economics and Business at A-Level. We are looking for a truly outstanding teacher who is a team player and will support the progress of students and extend and inspire students.
Professional Requirements
The successful candidate will:
Hold at least a good honours degree;
Have a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or PGCEi);
Have experience and excellent knowledge of teaching Economics/Business Studies to IGCSE and A-Level;
Have experience working with students for whom English is not their first language;
Have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience;
Be willing to participate in educational visits;
Be asked to run one after school activity each term;
Have a positive and solution finding approach to their working life;
Appreciate the joys and challenges of working in an international school environment.
Candidates with experience of teaching in an international secondary school are especially welcome. Experience of working at a CIS member / accredited school would be an added advantage but is not essential.

Are you an inspirational Leader of Modern Foreign Languages looking for a new challenge in a growing and vibrant international school? The British School Yangon is looking to appoint an outstanding leader and classroom teacher to join our team in August 2020.
As Director of MFL you will lead the provision of Languages across the school, from EYFS to KS5. This currently includes Mandarin, Myanmar, and Spanish, with the possibility of adding further languages depending on the successful applicant's own skills. Ideally fluent in at least two other languages other than English, your passion, enthusiasm and dedication to continuous improvement will be integral in building first class provision for all our students. Already leading a department, or acting as a strong second, you will be looking for the next step in your career and keen to gain experience in a whole school setting.
Working with the relevant Heads of School, you will plan, and help to deliver outstanding, progressive and engaging learning opportunities for children across every Key Stage.

To support the learning in the classroom
To be aware of and uphold classroom agreements and support the teacher in creating a good working environment.
To promote inclusion of all students.
To help maintain good classroom discipline by following behaviour management strategies set out by the teacher and by following the school behaviour policy.
To work with individual and small groups of students
To assist the movement of students around the school during transition times and at home time.
To escort students to other areas as necessary (toilet, medical room, etc).
To supervise students at lunch or break as scheduled on the duty roster.
To assist the teacher on school visits.
To report any concerns about child welfare to the class teacher
To attend collaborative planning sessions if the schedule allows (or meet with the teacher to go through planning)
To follow the school safeguarding procedures for working with children.
To be aware of and follow school policies and procedures
To encourage the use of English by acting as a positive role model
